Roe deer are solitary, forming small groups in winter.

They are active throughout the 24-hour period but make more use of open spaces during the hours of darkness.

Venison is always a first-rate meat choice.

It has more protein than any other red meat, which means that it sates the appetite well.

It is also particularly rich in iron (more than beef), which prevents anaemia and is good for energy levels.

The roe deer meat can be cooked in a pan, stewed, grilled or roasted, minced to prepare ragouts.
